The values underpinned the 2012 Olympic Games in London but they are a set of universal principles that can be applied to education and our lives, as well as to sport itself. What a brilliant day we have all had at our annual Sports Day. Thank you to all the adults who came along to show support, this was much appreciated. Sports Day offers the opportunity for all children in school to engage in competitive sports and activities. The National Curriculum Physical Education, purpose of study states, 'A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.'
